Hello all,
With the recent release of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and its derivatives, I decided on Xubuntu 12.04 as my main Linux distro. I do like the Cinnamon desktop and I applaud the Mint team's efforts to get away from the "unholy mess" of GNOME 3 and return to a desktop that's elegant, familiar, and easy to use. However, XFCE seems to find the best balance of all the desktops in meeting my needs for ease of use, eye candy and system performance. Thus I started with Xubuntu on my Linux PC. However, I'd like to upgrade the Xubuntu XFCE 4.8 interface to the Mint 13 version of XFCE 4.10. Is there a PPA I can add to install the Mint 13 XFCE desktop? I've added the Mint 13 repo already and can't seem to find it there...

This might help although it's meant to upgrade from Mint to Mint. http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/2 http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/62
Here's my sources list for Mint 13 Maya-Xfce
Might need to check your preferences settings in the same folder
Also ain the terminal might work better.

Re: Updating Xubuntu to LM 13 XFCE
Hi wyrdoak,
are you sure this updates *Ubuntu 12.04 to Mint 13 XFCE?
(aren't there special entries for the xfce version in sources list?)
I have Xubuntu 12.04 64 bit on my system (current version, current updates (as of Sun 19 Aug, 2012))
I changed /etc/apt/sources.list as described by you, I created /etc/apt/preferences as requested, and I did the update/dist-upgrade.
The update/upgrade phase eventually installs 8 new applications, but after a reboot I don't get Mint, but rather the same
Xubuntu that I had before.
What do I miss here?
Regards,
tomsam

Re: Updating Xubuntu to LM 13 XFCE
Like I said at the start this is usually done to upgrade mint to mint. Although if you look at the links above, the team suggests a clean install even upgrading mint.
But one thing I did miss. In your etc/apt/sources.list.d folder there is a file xubuntu-dev-xfce-4_10-precise,list it reads in mine.
Your Plymouth Xbuntu theme is going to stay the same unless you change it for Mint doesn't use one.
then the packs you might need for the change:
mint-info-xfce
mint-x-icons
grub2-theme-mint
mint-artwork-xfce
mint-background-xfce
Most of this and probably more can be found in the package manager by just typing mint.
