Font issues

Post by NaBUru38 »

Hello, folks! I have opened Firefox, Gedit and Thunar. The menu fonts are different in each: huge and bold in Firefox, huge and thin in Gedit, tiny and thin in Thunar. The appearance menu just shows one font option, so I don't understand why each program looks different. Any suggestions? Thanks!

As I understand it, Thunar is a Gtk+ 2 application, Gedit a Gtk+ 3 application and Firefox integrates poorly with the Linux desktop. If you have switched themes, it may be a theme related issue where the settings for Gtk+ 2 and Gtk+ 3 differ. I've just started working with Xfce, so don't know all. Bit I did encounter this problem while switching themes, that the Gtk+ 3 applications and Firefox all started to look different from the Xfce (Gtk+ 2) applications.

I have solved the problem of firefox with the following commands:

sudo rm /etc/fonts/conf.d/10-hinting-slight.conf
sudo ln -s /etc/fonts/conf.avail/10-hinting-full.conf /etc/fonts/conf.d/
sudo ln -s /etc/fonts/conf.avail/10-sub-pixel-rgb.conf /etc/fonts/conf.d/
