Using: Linux Mint 15, XFCE
If I am using the nvidia drivers, the appearance settings no longer work. Is this normal? I can only use the WIndow Manager, which is quite limiting, i.e I cannot change look of icons and larger choice of style.

Your post is a bit short on detail, such as the version and flavour of mint, the make and model number of the video card etc.

As I said, Linux Mint 15, XFCE. My video card is NVIDIA Geforce GT 430.

Solved. Delete .config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/displays.xml
