Gnome components not included in Mint 6 xfce RC1

Post by Steely »

Seeing my previous post regarding 2 problems ended up being sidetracked by sound and wifi issues I will post the information again.

When using the default xchat-gnome you cannot open a link ( url ) and you will receive the operation not supported error. You can right click and copy location and then paste it into your browser.

Totem movie player will not display youtube videos when using the youtube plugin and you will get a Location not found error.

I can understand removing certain gnome specific parts from a xfce release in order to decrease boot time and many wanting a gnome free as possible release. If so what needs to be added to get the functionality in those 2 cases. They both work in Xubuntu 8.10.

Please try and keep the posts in this thread on topic and if it's a bug please place them in the Linux Mint 6 XFCE RC1 Bug Thread at http://linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=143&t=21090 . If it's a different problem or question start a new thread.

Thanks

Dale

I am not sure how to get your sound and wifi working, but you may want to check this thread:

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice FedoraRefugee. I informed merlwiz of the problem on irc earlier this evening and the installation of gvfs cleared up the xchat-gnome and totem problems and resolved a few others.
