usb devices not mounting on auto login

Postby marli on Fri Feb 04, 2011 3:35 am

hi
i reinstalled xfce 9 after trying mint 10.
however the usb devices wouldnt mount.
i got some to auto mount if i had disk utility open(it was if it only mount if i was watching them!!!)
they however never mounted in in the file browser or the desktop.
I added lxde to see if that solved the problem...nope.
I reinstalled twice...nope
i reinstalled again and it was during the reinstall that i remembered the only difference from my original xfce 9 install was selecting log me automaticly, so as an experiment i left it on the default option(type password to login)
this is now working.

it seems log me in automaticly has a another bug....I remember I lost the lockscreen option, however i'm not sure if it was every install.
If anyone know whats causing this and can suggest how to solve it im prepeared to reinstall AGAIN.

Hi!
I don't know if I can help; but with Desktop Gnome I never had problems: each USB (flash drive, external hard drive, 3G modem, mobile phone,...)
was recognized and seen by Terminal:
Code: Select all

Have you got a separate home partition, perhaps because they are two different versions of Mint you might have to delete the hidden files from the home partition before you re-install.

xfce has major issues with auto login... I would suggest just using your password to log into the computer as the bug has not been fixed yet.
