How to get volume slider on taskbar?

On an older machine running XFCE 4.6, I get a volume slider like the one attached. But in the newest LMDE, I get a pop-up showing volume sliders for master, headphones, front-speakers and other things, and it can't be used like the old volume slider (where I can just click on it, scroll the mouse wheel to change volume). How do I get the old style back?
