Hello,
I've tried this on both Gnome and Lxde. I download and install xfce4 via synaptic and the option appears on the login window. When I choose xfce and enter the user and password, the screen blanks and then returns me to the same login window, I can't get at xfce.
Any ideas, anyone?

I'm having the same problem, with xfce installed in Mint 12 LXDE.
