New guy here

Postby brother on Sun Mar 09, 2008 2:45 pm

Hi. Just wanted to compliment y'all on what so far looks like a fine distro.
I am running on the livecd of Mint 4.0 I just burned (I have PCLinux on my hdd).
Mint just booted right up and detected my wireless, without even asking me
anything about it. All I had to do was enter my network key. This bodes well. :D

Way to go!

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Thanks. :)

What I'm doing with Mint is evaluating it for the wife's migration to Linux.
I think she'll like Mint; it's a fine distro that has a look I believe she'll enjoy.

Though Mint works fine on my Dell laptop with the IPW2200 wireless card,
alas, hers has that Dell/Broadcom 1390 card. (Hey, I didn't know about any
of that when I bought her computer. Next computer I buy will be fully
Linux friendly.) Naturally, I'm having issues...

I'm not worried though; I found your Mint WiFi wiki, along with another post
here at this forum that points to a solution at Ubuntu, along with two other
solutions for Gutsy elsewhere.

Live and learn. The beauty of Linux is that someone is using the same hardware
you're having trouble with, and has come up with a work-around.

This is fun!
