Hey all, I've been researching the whole 32-bit vs. 64-bit processors and OS's. I'm still confused on a couple of points.
Alot of places seem to make reference to specific AMD-64 processors, and I think if I had an Intel Core duo 2 T9300 for instance, that it is capable of 64 bit OS no? so would any 64bit distro that runs on AMD-64 also run on the Intel?

I think that answers my question(s), I'm soon getting a laptop and I'm installing 2x2gb RAM so I want to try and make the most out of it with an optimized linux distro.
So there wouldn't be any performance loss operating 32bit programs/libraries in a 64bit OS vs. a 32bit OS?
