I did a little research about the prices in my country (Bulgaria) and here is the result:
Note: There are too many SSD's so I covered 2 little ones and 2 big ones.

A-DATA Premier Pro SP310 SSD 32GB - 60.67 $
Adata XPG SX900 SSD 64GB - 92.04 $
------------------------------------------------------
Adata XPG SX910 SSD 256GB - 294.26 $
Samsung SSD 840 EVO 750GB - 689.64 $

The biggest SSD which I found is the last one (750GB). The price is huge for our standarts (our minimum salary is 237.08 $ which is 340 Leva)...

I use about 30G of a 128GB SSD for Mint and my bulk storage is on 2TB of HDDs. My system is so fast already that I could not justify buying a larger SSD or replacing my HDDs with SSDs.

Because SSD cost is, what?, over 5 to 10 times greater per GB than disks, I decided I would be better off buying 4 disks and using them in RAID 10. This gives very high speed (but not as high as SSD) and high reliability. Indeed, I didnt really need an SSD at all but I wanted one (cause they are sexy) and because I wanted to be able to put the RAID in standby to save power when doing web browsing and non bulk data stuff.

Of course, the days of disks are doomed. It is just a matter of time before SSD costs less than HDD. This may take a decade, tho. In the meantime I reiterate what others have said and suggest an SSD for the OSs and good ol' disks for the rest. 8)

SSD are too expensive. At the moment good idea is to store / on SSD and /home on normal HDD (more memory for our files).

I think SSDs are pretty good depending on what manufacturer you go with (I am getting a 256GB Samsung 840 Pro for my new desktop and currently have a Kingston SSD in my Chromebook) as some are better than others. However, in my last laptop I think having SSDs in a RAID set up is bad currently (at least RAID 0).

I am surprised that no one has mentioned the fact that ssd drives in a laptop add about 30 minutes to your battery time because they use less power.
