Hi,

did my first super computer 2002 in Saudi Arabia and was wondering what would happen to the old one (around 300 servers) local guy took me to the desert pointed to a big hole and pointed to a bulldozer  I did run a program after it to recycle 2000 PCs a year and give them for free to middle east schools (not in Saudi they had enough money to buy new ones... )

here my special metod of composting.. ... I intend explain here how I do it
Why I am doing this? I live on the fourth floor, so no one is above me, and my Balcony is one half not covered.. so if you have rain, you know, over time something will grow.. Scratching this grow from between my ceramic plates was my first Soil.
We do separate our waste in Germany, so having bio anyway, I have another issue: in small quantities and collected in just ordinary way it will roth if I do not empty it very often.. what results in 200 Gram of stinky stuff..
Now.. here is my observation you can follow: did you see green leafs falling from a tree and roth under a tree. No, because first they become yellow, and second they dry.. and nothing stinks. Please share with me the emotion fo admiration of nature: nothing stinks and it's completly silent process.. on a Gigantic scale.. I hope you know what the biggest living creature on Earth is: it's the Halimash fungus in the US.
So.. here is the trick: you peal the cucumber and lay the stripes with the wet side up.. it will shrivel in to a very nice tube.. the same with potatoes and peals from apple and other stuff.. in essence you cut it in a way so it can dry.. because if something shrivels, even if you lay it in water it will not unshrivel back.. After it's dry it have some structure.. what I mean is, if you lay it in a box, there will be air between.
So.. I lay it in a plasic box with slits.. you need air for the break down process.. it can be just ordinary folding box for groceries, or something else.. the important process requirenment is: air must come from all side and even from beneath, and water can free flow down.
Now.. after I have collected above 10 cm of the stuff, I do sprincle it with soil.. like 1 cm, it must not cover completely, because air need to come trough.. on top of that I do empty my teapot leafs. It must be somewhat moist for the break down process.. that's it.. no smell, no need for mixing. And believe me, if you have rain over the box, something will grow..
For andvanced tinkers: I do cut my BRITA filter and do add the inner content to my compost.. it is in experimental state, because 2/3 is small 1 mm and less plastic globulas, and only the rest is biochar..
Two links down are in german: how to make Biochar at home, and very advanced tech for producing biochar and compost from Austria:

had the chance of visiting Masdar end of 2010 and I was impressed, that said Abu Dhabi can afford such projects and they are well aware that fossil energy is not going to last forever....
