As the title suggests sometimes it's the simplest things you miss.
I have Linux Mint 17 Qiana
I have a new Brother HL-2250DN - and for the life of me could not get it to work.
The computer was not detecting the printer - and i was pulling what remained of my hair out.
I tried everything you can think off - if it is here i tried it.
I tried DELL (my PC) forums.
I contacted Brother and followed their advice.
It turns out the USB cable i bought was the culprit.
Simply purchased a shorter USB cable and it works.
For all those searching for answers - keep plugging away.
And never underestimate the stupidity of oneself.

Re: Plain as the nose on your face
This time it was the cable, lucky you. But don't put yourself on a golden throne here, Brother is a pain in the ass to get it working properly under Linux. Just check this forum.
