I'm at work right now, so unfortunately I won't be able to start downloading Elyssa until this evening... but just reading the comprehensive release notes is a revelation!

The hard work that clem and the team have put into this release is obvious. The upstream improvements look great, but it's the Mint tool advances and the seemingly minor touches (like root folders) that I know will make all the difference.

This is an amazing piece of work - everyone involved should be feeling very proud.

By the way, the mention my artwork received in the release notes was both unexpected and wonderful! :D

Tried it yesterday, had a few quirks to it...

* When I insert my headphones in the headphone socket, the speakers mute, but there's no sound in the headphones.
* Desktop effects had to be turned on and off two times to get it to work.
* It took forever for the live CD to boot.

Other then that it worked fine, all hardware found except my on board card reader.
A lot of useful features, for instance the new version of the mintTools feels very stable and mature.

Nice artwork (thank you Jernau!), but inconsistent.
The boot screen says: High tech, Sci-Fi, Youth.
While the rest of the artwork says: Business, Elegance, Minimalistic, Mature.
Just my two cents...

Other then that nice selection of themes, but a new default icon set (exclusive to Linux Mint) would really improve the looks and the personality of this release A LOT.
Personally I'm no fan of the default blue mint theme, should be a green shade in my opinion.

Nice to have it out so fast though - excellent job from everyone involved! :!:

Only getting 350 kb/sec this morning, not too bad but wish I had hung around a bit later last night. But it was mother's day in the US and I was a little liberal with the wine... Anyway, thanks Clem! :D

ELYSSA
Welcome Elyssa, our sweetest dream
Another wonder, another scheme
I'm falling in love with you already
Can't seem to go with someone steady

Daryna will be jealous I fear
All women are fickle my dear
They're all sweet, and always smart
Leaving behind a broken heart

My love, I'm full of sadness
Can't stand this frenzy madness
As soon as I fall in love with you
Another lady I'll have to woo

POETRY

Postby npap on Mon May 19, 2008 7:42 am

A day without laughter is a day wasted.
Charlie Chaplin

Here come the Minty guys
A bunch of geeks like swarming flies
Eager and friendly like our Deadguy
Who's always fast and on the fly

Kenetics, my friends, is always there
He's present here and everywhere
A witty fellow and a friendly bloke
A good bartender with a subtle joke

Let's see, who else is left to mention
It's not, my friends, by sheer intention
Alsa Phil deserves much admiration
His gentle humor and his big donation

And last my friends our old boy Clem
Whose work has been a precious gem
Let's not forget that his creations
Will need support and some donations

Don't take life too seriously; you'll never get out of it alive

FREE BOOZE

Here is the latest warning news
They offer Vistas with your booze
And if perchance your head may hurt
Throw out the ballast and the dirt

My friends and Minties never fear
We offer nothing with a beer
And if you order StoliMint
We give you nothing but a squint

Go to the Mint Café me blokes
To have some fun, to hear some jokes
The booze supply is ample here
Plenty of whiskey, plenty of beer

Alas, alas!
Where's everybody gone this summer? :(
It seems the money we spent for the advertisement was wasted. I guess people prefer the cool beaches rather than the Mint Bar. :(

But soon we'll be in business again during the cold winter months, I hope. :)

Anyway, we hope you had a cool summer.
Cheers,

Hello there my dear friends,
Let it be known that my physical entity is in Potala where I have been for the past few months :D

I visited the Mint House in my astral body the other night just to check up on the activity there. :) Unfortunately one can't have verbal communication when in a state of astral projection. :(
There is so much to learn yet in this Mystery Land, so it will be a few more weeks before I return from this exciting expedition.

Cheers,
npap

By the way,
Can anybody explain to me what the OHM's law is? Everybody here keeps repeating it every day. :)

I think it was discovered by Mr. Sherlock Ohms, or maybe by his twin (but completely opposite) brother Mho.
What it means, I have no idea. I think we should conduct an investigation. In the mean time, try to resist saying it, as it could generate harmful forces.
Also, be sure to watch out for joule thieves while you are over there.
