I'm running Linux Mint 7 live right now, and like it a lot.

Bye-bye Windows 7

Unfortunately I think that's still true, but I anticipate the day when big companies support linux (NWN works nicely, natively, under linux)

...and this is only because microsoft years ago convinced game developers to write their games for directx, instead or OpenGL. OpenGL was around before directx was ever made.

Just like microsoft has convinced persons to write websites to favour internet explorer. They are not unlike so many big corporations, looking out for number one... :(

Yes, and no to that. Any website designer worth his salt will write to the standards first. What they have managed is to force people to then continue and write all their necessary hacks to make it work in IE (the vast majority of coding time is spent on this)

For the moment I'm using Windows 7, why? because I like to play some games and I will not use Wine(I need the full power of my PC), so I will not reboot my system every time.

Because I'm very interested in Linux-Systems, I will use a Dual boot system forever. (ok too play some old Games I use Windows XP in Virtualbox).

From the position of a non-technical-PC-User (like my Girl-friend) Linux has to do a lot and become more popular, that it can become mainstream.

I'm sure when Linux Mint 7 x64 come out, and will make a donation (my third, one for every release I use)
Sorry for my BAD English!!

I replaced the latest Windows 7 7127 build but I'm not entirely satisfied. Although the new Mint 7 is awesome, I can't get my Hauppauge pvr 150 MCE version to work. I've searched and have yet to find a TV program that works. Overall Linux Mint 7 blows Windows 7 away. I am a first time user of Linux and would recommend it to newbies.

ps. if anyone can help with my tv tuner card, please e-mail me at alexrms@gmail.com.

Thanks, and good luck to everyone with the new Mint edition :) :) :)

 honestly, bill. Just because u dont understand linux, dosent mean you should get angry, does it? mint 7 'gloria' is so much better. Also, with windows 7, what is the point of shaking the window to make others disappear? :D

Yupp, another user here dropping Windows 7 for Mint and no way in hell am I going back to Windows anytime soon (besides maybe when starcraft 2 comes out for a bit :D )

Right now I'm doing everything I need without encountering any problems whatsoever. Plus since all my gaming essentially consists of warcraft 3 and starcraft I'm set! Also for some very very depressing reason my games run faster on Linux through wine than natively on Windows.. ahahahahaha!

Completely found Windows 7 to be over hyped and well being a more technical user I'm not entirely impressed with a fancy menu bar or backgrounds that change every 5 minutes.

Long live Mint! :o
