ehh, this petition seems to be a couple years old, as they ask Macromedia to give us Shockwave.. Macromedia was sold to Adobe in April of '05. Also, the pages of signatures I looked at were laden with trolls.

For everyone who's signing this, I suggest taking the time to write a formal email to Adobe and let them know your thoughts and desires for a Linux Shockwave player. Contacting them directly shows that you care more than just clicking on a link and throwing your name on a list. If anyone is wondering, I have sent them an email myself...back when it was still Macromedia.

there is a way to get shockwave running on linux if you REALLY need it.

http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/page/Main_Page

that is a project that sets up m$ internet exploder on your linux distro
you need to install wine first. once you have IE installed you can run shockwave.

i did it a while back as an experiment and it worked...

personally i use the above script to install ie just to test websites that i make.
i wouldn't use it to surf the net but if it's a life or death situation
and you really need to view that shockwave site then thats the answer.

I have not tried this yet, but apparently it is possible to get Shockwave up and running: http://help.ubuntu.com/community/Shockwave. However, there are some issues with this, listed at the bottom of the page.
