kenetics wrote:That reminds me of the first mouse I ever used. It was on an Apple Lisa at work, a very expensive machine. I had to call each time I want to use it to see if it was working, it was down so often!
Recently I found 2-3 not working mouses under my bed. Back in the days, when I used windows I played a lot of games so my mouse broke quite often. I don't throw away my broken hardware but I like to keep it and play with it (try to repair it - just for fun). When I found this 3 broken (dead) mice I was going to repair them or at least try to.
I thought - why not make one working mouse from my 3 broken ones but just for the very fun - I connected one of them in the usb - and cursor worked. I looked at it suspicious and thought that the button probably won't work. I was wrong. Buttons worked, cursor moved, everything worked 100%. I was amazed.
I took the second mouse - connected it and it ALSO worked like a charm (10+ years old dell). The third mouse also worked but has broken button.
So my mice died in windows (XP) but Linux Mint resurrected them How awesome is that. I don't know what happened to them but now they are working fine.
By the way I tested them in windows 7 and they also work.

Re: THE MINT CAFE
So my girlfriend's getting a bit fed up of my enthusiasm for Linux as of late... I sent a message to her phone, politely informing her that she too was looking at a form of Linux
Re: THE MINT CAFE
I switched to my dual boot windost to see if it is still alive and avast kindly informed me:
One antivirus program just for one week stopped 707,660 virus attacks only in the US.

Re: THE MINT CAFE
REMINISCING THE OLD DAYS
We had a good supply of booze
Twas really hard for me to choose
A shot of this, a shot of that
I lost me head, and lost me hat
Methinks I have the damn thing mastered
I never thought I'd get so plastered
And here she is my pretty Daryna
She looks to me like damn Catrina
Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of rum
Look at me the stinking bum!

Hi npap!
Glad to see you haven't lost your passion for good poetry.
I've been using Mint since 2006. We had some good times here in the early days!

Re: THE MINT CAFE
A rhyme from a would be Guru.
I've seen a few pleas for help from "Gurus" in the Newbie Questions section. Inspired, I guess, by the "All Gurus once were Newbies." string on the board index page. So as an occasional poet, I wrote the following rhyme to the chorus of The Gnu Song, with which I'm sure you're all familiar.
Muppet Show version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGVdCGxh1IY
(I'm not actually claiming Guru status of course. It's for entertainment only)
I'm a guru.
A grubby guru.
I have the greatest knowledge of Gnu.
I'm a guru.
You could be too.
Just read a fine manual or two.
Whatever you do
keep providing the clue.
Soon everyone will be like me and you.
Then all can afford
their systems secured.
If broken they can even be restored.
By root and by toor!
No more dump the core.
I'm a guru, but I need to learn much more.
