I think those who have worked all their lives in highly technical occupations, as npap and myself have, tend to keep their minds active and to adopt the latest technology - if it serves a worthwhile purpose (we tend to discriminate here more then younger people who go for the latest stuff for its own sake).

As far as Linux goes, we have seen MS go from lovely operating systems to a totally fouled-up and dominating and controlling OS like Vista. Hence, we value free and wonderfull software like Linux that isn't a money drain.

Also, npap and myself have probably inhaled enough lead solder fumes and solder resin to keep our minds young and a bit on the wild side. Myself, I have even held solder with my mouth while building my electronic kits. Additionally, I've stood in front of radar antennas for a short time while they were radiating - so I know my mind is scrambled!

I got into computing because I would have to keep learning new things for the rest of my life (I don't intend to retire, just drop dead).

My dad, who is 60, just had his computer minted, because i got fed up with fedora updates creating too much work, and he did not care in the least that i changed the look and half the apps. He just wants tools to do what he needs to do. like email, web banking, internet, photo tools, print stuff...

it is all about change, and some people are inherently scared of it. Though is always going on...

:D

Agreed. I'm also an oldie, though younger than both npap and kenetics (the same age as Boo's father) and my wife who retires on monday is as beautiful to me now when she's 67 in a few weelks time as when I met her some twenty years ago

and scorp - this has nothing to do with mint :)

Sorry Husse, I overlooked that!

Only after reading such comments

Just kidding

My favourite cocktail ... Hmmmm ... I guess that would have to be Tequila Sunrise? But I also like a good spicy Bloody Mary  (of course ... what else ?! :D )

But before I create a false impression here: I really don't drink alcohol a lot, and if I do, then only in such small quantities so that I could still drive a car safely :!: :!: :!: ... or type commands into a UNIX shell without ruining the system

I'm a control freak. Being a control freak and being drunk (where you usually lose control over yourself and over everything else!) don't go well together.

I haven't had one of those in ages. Thanks for giving me the idea, as it's Mexican night tonight at our house. Tacos, enchiladas, fajitas and now, tequila sunrises! :D

Well my dear friends,
Tonight is the AA night at our house. They are checking up on me lately.
But my record is clean. I haven't had a drop of liquor for three days now (health reasons).
Looking at the cocktails in Scorp's links here, makes my mouth water.

Buenas noches amigos,
And Good Night Mrs. Calabash, wherever you are!

Actually, that is a 1-billion mark note (1,000 million or 1 milliarde). But I guess that makes no difference, yes?

Well Mexican night went very well, despite the absence of scorp and npap (I guess scorp couldn't get the corporate jet in time). Tequila sunrises were very good an we also had margaritas.

This little fellow showed up and said:

"Yo Quiero Linux Mint"

So I gave him a taco and a mint disk and he left.

Something like that, yes .... Imagine, they now got five of those things ... oh man. And I can't get a new laser printer for my department: "Sorry, cost savings ...." -- yeah, I can tell
