You know you are a Linux User when...

Postby Chi on Sun Feb 17, 2008 4:26 am

Just some random thoughts about whether you are a Linux User or not.

You are a Linux user when:

    • You can Bash all day and not face assault charges
    • You think Gnomes are good looking and useful (but spacial browsing is not)
    • You have the uncontrollable urge to talk to anyone who would wear a RedHat
    • #!$# is not offensive
    • You think dialogue boxes with the caption “Success!” are normal
    • Apache doesn't mean Indian or attack helicopter
    • You are surprised if you ever have to reboot to install software
    • Penguins Rock!
    • Rolling your own kernel has nothing to do with fried chicken
    • Terminal is not dire – it is useful
    • The only blue screen of death you see is an image on your screensaver
    • You think “A virus? Are those things still bothering people?”
    • Grub doesn’t mean dirty.
    • You can open a PDF file in over 3 different viewers
    • Your friends are buying IPods you are searching for an OGG player
    • You consider RAM more important than CPU cycles
    • WinModems – R.I.P.
    • Anything less than 4 workspaces is unproductive
    • You’re disappointed that your OS doesn’t come in a version that can be booted from a CDROM
    • You see a P1 and start thinking firewall, proxy server or IP masquerading
    • Updating your OS doesn’t render hardware unusable
    • You know that Grep isn’t related to Shrek
    • Directories are separated by / and they are short to type
    • “If you knew Suse like I know Suse” has a completely different meaning.
    • You have heard of the phrase “bleeding edge”
    • Your home directory lives on another hard drive – I mean what idiot would design an OS where the data and OS is lost in a hard drive fail?
    • Shortcuts don’t look like shortcuts they can look like folders

Please feel free to add. :D

You are a Linux user when you lay in the bed at night in the dark trying to figure out how you can rearrange your partition table to fit just one more distro that caught your fancy on your system.

Democracy is 2 wolves and a lamb voting on the menu. Liberty is an armed lamb protesting the electoral outcome. A Republic negates the need for an armed protest.

The box said "Requires Windows 95 or better." and you can't understand why it won't work on your Linux computer.

Although it only applies to one distro in particular....

You know you are a Linux user when you think that brown and orange makes an attractive colour scheme. :P

When you'd rather sit at home compiling/installing another distro with a beer in hand than go out for the evening with others.
