2007 LinuxQuestions.org Members Choice Awards

Postby Adler on Fri Feb 29, 2008 1:56 am

Hi All,

Way back when I first started to play with Linux I met LQ e.g. Linux Questions.

Every year they publish a poll.

The latest is @ http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions ... awards-79/.

I do know the guy "Jeremy" that authors this site, and he is an impressive guy. I'd argue about some of the choices here, but I've learned a lot.

Basically after following LQ I went from those .rpm based distros to .deb, and stayed with Mint.

I've voted in those polls every year. But every year he starts such a scandel about where's this app or that app. The poor guy has to put up with such abuse, because of the differences of oppion and there is no way he can possibly include every two bit app that's out there for each catagory.

But it is interesting to vote and see where one stands in regard to LQ community.

I did see Mint made the board, with a piddly 43 votes. I'll have to honest I voted for Debian, I can't betray our parent distro. But Ubuntu bet everybody by a whooping 400 votes. I'm going to have to hange a bag over my head over that one.

To be quite frank, I'm not sure who those 400 are, Linux users which have fallen to Ubuntu's promotions or new win converts which haven't been weaned yet.

Mozzila still taking the browser buy storm winning by over 800 votes!

Your right, it's quit a learning experiance to read the poll results.

Wish I'd known about this site before so I could have voted. It's cool that Linux Mint was at least on the desktop distro vote, even if Ubuntu beat out everyone. Betcha there will be a better turnout next time.
