Help AMD HD4350 and 12.4 Catalyst Video Drivers

Postby raidensub on Sun Jun 24, 2012 3:58 am

Hi. I need help. I have AMD HD4350 graphic card and i am trying to install the Catalyst Video Drivers for about 3 weeks.
When i use jockey the install fails with a message to look in /var/log/jockey.log. In the package manager fglrx looks installed and if i restart i get no desktop.

When i use a manual install using:
sudo sh amd-driver-installer-*.run --buildpkg Ubuntu/precise

it builds ok and when i install it fails and i get:

http://pastebin.com/8RMSYhCy

This is the /var/lib/dkms/fglrx/8.961/build/make.log

http://pastebin.com/BAJqykya

I googled [make.sh: 396: [: 1: unexpected operator] and i find bugs reports and in one a user propose a patch for the driver.
I try that with no luck. The weird is that in Alpha 2 release the Catalyst driver was working with jockey.

You are really my last hope to solve this issue because i have similar posts in Kubuntu forums and in Ubuntu forums and none can help me. Thanks

What version of mint are you using?

are you cleaning previous install attempts before doing that?

Seems to me that you are trying to install a 64 bit driver while missing the 32 bit extensions.

If you are using the x86_64 architecture (64 bit):
sudo apt-get install ia32-libs-multiarch:i386 lib32gcc1 libc6-i386
cd /usr ; sudo ln -svT lib /usr/lib64

Try following this guide:
http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu

if you are using maya, follow the ubuntu/precise tutorial

Please make sure ia32-libs is installed and then try to reinstall the driver.

If it still fails please run inxi -Gx in terminal and post the output.

you should do that from an installed system, not from live cd.

we need the information of what exactly you have installed so that we can point to the propper clean up method.

or point you to the needed wiki.
