I am using a Samsung series 3 laptop which was running windows 7.Now I have installed linux Mint 15 along with Windows 7. I tried something like installing bumblebee, but i am not able to make sure,if it is working. The result of command "inxi -Fxz" is given below.

I was getting almost 3 hours battery time using windows 7 . I was using samsung easy settings software for poer management in windows. When I shifted to linux mint 15 i am getting hardly 1 hour 30 minutes. I read in our community that it might be due to usage of both intel driver and nvidia graphics driver at the same time and it was said that using bumblebee could solve the issue. i tried installing bumblebee, but could not find if its working or not, and my battery is still draining. i am waiting for a solution to manage my laptop's battery power so that i can continue with linux.my product model is given below.

make:SAMSUNG
model:NP300E4C
processor: intel i5

I have a similar issue with my Samsung NP530U3C. It also has an Intel i5.

The battery life is less than 2 hours with Mint.

Also, Mint never reports more than 79% charge. So I'm not sure if Mint is assuming I have a lot less charge than I actually do and therefore giving me less time.

I no longer have Windows installed to compare with. But when I first purchased it, Mint used to report a max of 85% charge. I then swapped the HDD for SSD (dropping Windows at the same time) and from then Mint only reported a maximum of 79%.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

microUgly.

there are few options in BIOS you might consider adjusting. One of them tells to charge battery only to 80% to extend its lifecycle.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't know about such a setting. But I checked and it's disabled, so Mint really should be reporting a full 100% charge.
