Nvidia problem

Postby robert leleu on Tue Sep 03, 2013 8:57 am

Mint15 64 MATE
I tried to install Nvidia driver in order to be able to connect an external screen to my notepad
and now there is only a 640x480 display. What shall I do to recover a nomal situation ?

here some information

Code: Select all
leleu@portable-leleu ~ $ inxi -Gx
Graphics:  Card-1: Intel 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller bus-ID: 00:02.0
           Card-2: NVIDIA GK107M [GeForce GT 650M / GTX 660M LE] bus-ID: 01:00.0
           X.Org: 1.13.3 drivers: intel (unloaded: fbdev,vesa) Resolution: 640x480@59.9hz
GLX Renderer: Mesa DRI Intel Ivybridge Mobile GLX Version: 3.0 Mesa 9.2.0-devel Direct Rendering: Yes

But when I boot in recovery mode, I obtain a 800x600 display (with «screen preferences giving 2 choices 800x600 and 640x480)

the information changed (showing that a vesa driver has been loaded) to

Code: Select all
leleu@portable-leleu ~ $ inxi -Gx
Graphics:  Card-1: Intel 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller bus-ID: 00:02.0
           Card-2: NVIDIA GK107M [GeForce GT 650M / GTX 660M LE] bus-ID: 01:00.0
           X.Org: 1.13.3 drivers: vesa,intel (unloaded: fbdev) Resolution: 800x600@0.0hz
GLX Renderer: Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.2, 256 bits) GLX Version: 2.1 Mesa 9.2.0-devel Direct Rendering: Yes

The boot from installation CD shows a «normal» display in high resolution.

Is there a way to repair my present installation ?

Thanks

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.
