ACER AOD270 Atom N2600,Cedar Trail platform Intel GMA 3600

I am a new to linux(Dont want to see the terminal for more than 5 sec) I removed the Linpus linux that came along with ACER AOD270 Atom N2600,Cedar Trail platform Intel GMA 3600 graphics card (I am not a techee). To my best of knowledge, intel has incorporated the drivers with their own linux distro Meego 1.2. They have also released it for fedora 16, which can be punched inside with much programming.
I ve tried Ubuntu 12.04 and after installing couldn't adjust the brightness. But after updating, it showed to install additional drivers and installed the Cedarview drivers. Those crashed after some time. Now I am very happy with Linuxmint13. Searched the synaptic for cedar and installed 4 softwares for cedartrial and cedarview and I played a movie 1920x800 nicely. For adjusting brighness , the Fn+ arrow keys worked well. Additional brighness reduction was achieved with RedshiftGUI

I tried meego 1.2 for cedartrail, and from the usb boot, I was able to reduce brightness and some pop up graphics showed up on clicking with 3D efects. The OS was ridiculous , probably for schoolkids and hence I abandoned it.
I tried to install 3.6.2 kernals into LM13 and aftr installing cedartrial drivers, x org collapsed, became ok after uninstalling the kernal.
My LM13 installation after update is showing 2 drivers for installation 1) drm driver for intel gma500 -This package contains the drm driver for Cedar Trail in DKMS format. 2)Intel cedar view graphics driver -3D-accelerated proprietary graphics driver for Intel Cedarview cards.
This driver is required to fully utilise the 3D potential of some Intel Cedarview cards, as well as provide 2D acceleration of newer cards.
I have installed these and are working well.screen resolution is 1200X 600, maximum.
The following is the output for the command glxinfo | grep direct
PVRDRIInitPVR2D: PVR2D device index (0)direct rendering: Yes
I heard that these drivers are not fully functional also. I cannot see my bluetooth adapters in LM13, which showed up for a while when on 3.6.2 kernel
My question is
1) are these the real things needed for my netbook ?
2.I am I doing it with right stuff ?
3)Is there any way by which I can achieve more perfomance for my netbook without typing much into trminal ?
