Second Monitor not detected

I have a new instalation of mint 13 MATE on an Asus eeepc x101ch. Before uninstalling windows 7 starter I could connect to my projector with HDMI, but after installing mint other monitors are not detected (HDMI or VGA). xrandr -q only lists the one screen, but not the extra monitor or projector. Any ideas how to fix this?
