screen doesn't turn off after installing amd 12.10 driver

system specs: amd a4 3300m processor, 4 gigs ram, 500 gb hdd, amd radeon hd 6510gs graphics, (acer aspire 5560 g lappie), linux mint 13 64 bit cinnamon.

Ever since installing the latest amd graphic drivers namely 12.10 version drivers (64 bit), the screen doesn't turn off, only blanks out. Previously it used to turn off after a minute's idle time, now it only blanks out.

Please advise on how to make it work, as i leave my system on for long durations. Any help is grealy appreciated, thanks.

have you tried the other driver 12.11 Beta mine is working fine but I am not on a laptop but its something to try

I needed this driver for the hdmi sound and the screen would flicker using the other driver I also show how to remove the "watermark for testing only"

Hi, apologies for the late reply.

I tried installing the beta drivers but the result is the same, the screen still doesn't turn off after blanking out.

Please help.
