I have the following annoying issue with Linux Mint 14 Cinnamon edition on my Lenovo S205 (or rather, with the proprietary ati fglrx driver):
The contrast is simply horrible when the vari-bright setting is activated in catalyst control center (default). With this setting disabled everything is as it should be (and as e.g. in the XFCE edition I use as well).
However, this setting does not stay deactivated! Instead it is reset to activated upon every reboot.
Does anyone know how to fix this annoying behavior and make the vari-bright setting permanent? Or at least how to automatically reset vari-bright to deactivated upon startup?

Re: ATI vari-bright setting reset with every boot
I may have found a solution for myself:
Change all occurrences of "PP_VariBrightFeatureEnable=V1" to "PP_VariBrightFeatureEnable=V0" in /etc/ati/amdpcsdb and /etc/ati/amdpcsdb.default.
This appears to work.
