ATI onboard video adapter and dedicated pcie video card

Hi All,

I've been trying to set up three monitors using an ATI onboard video card and another ATi pcie video card. The AMD driver doesn't work coz it recognizes neither of my cards. So i'm using the default open-source driver, which only works for the onboard one (I'm setting the onboard card, i.e. IGFX, as the primary video card in the bios. The mobo is biostar a880g+.) In other words, there is no signal when I hook up a monitor with the dedicated card.

lspci shows that both are recognized (The first one is onboard and the second one is on a pcie slot.)
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RS880 [Radeon HD 4250]
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV380 [Radeon X600 (PCIE)]

Can someone tell me how to activate the second card? I'm using Linux Mint 14.

I can post more info if that helps.

Thanks for looking.
Shawn

Normally the BIOS disables on-board video when you add a PCI device

thanks for your reply. Right, normally no. but there is an option in bios that allows you to choose the onboard one as the primary video.

I found this http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/31054 ... geforce210 but it only refers to windows.

I don't know the answer.
Just see if someone else comes in on this
Personally I only ever used a single monitor with multiple workspaces and that is more than confusing enough for me..
