ATI & Compiz problem

Postby mfreeman on Sun Jan 27, 2013 7:39 pm

I'm running 64-bit Mint 13 with the MATE desktop. I did a stupid thing. When I originally installed Mint 13, I used fglrx-updates so I had the latest drivers. Well, an update came in today, and I let it through, without thinking about the fact that AMD just put my 3-year-old laptop's graphics card on the "legacy" list, so newer drivers don't work. Anyway, it updated and I rebooted. Everything seemed fine, except Compiz didn't work. It worked perfectly before, and I *LOVED* how it made my whole system look. So, I installed the standard fglrx, whose version number is the same as what the previous fglrx-updates package was, before the update. However, Compiz still doesn't work. Here is the terminal output (with comments about snipped repeated lines in {brackets}):

Now, there was also a mesa library update, which I think could have also caused a problem. Any ideas what can be done to fix this? Thanks!
