AMD E-300 APU

I'm having a problem with the drivers on my laptop with the E-300 APU. I tried every possible driver combination but it doesn't work. I'm on Linux Mint 14 with Cinnamon. The problem is that the UI components of Cinnamon don't get accelerated and the whole OS is very laggy. When I tried using the official AMD drivers, 3D performance is very good, but Cinnamon performance is horrible. I'm currently using the Open Source drivers which make Cinnamon a little bit more responsive but 3D doesn't really work well.

Any ideas how to make Cinnamon work well? I don't really care about the 3D performance that much.
