no HDMI sound on new video card

Postby drreuss on Mon Mar 04, 2013 3:38 pm

I have recently installed a XFX ONE Radeon HD 5450 1GB Video Card and can't get any audio out of the HDMI. Went to my control panel and switched to Cedar HDMI Audio (Radeon 5400/6300 series) in both the hardware and output tabs with no success. Do I need further drivers ? The adjustments and resolution option also don't seem to give me very many options. In fact, the only way I could have both my flatscreen tv and monitor on and still see the toolbar on my monitor is by setting it to matched monitors.
The primary thing I would like to resolve is getting audio through the HDMI.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

I'm running a 2x AMD Athlon 64x2 with 4 GB RAM , Mint 14 nadia 64bit Mate

so I managed to find the latest ATI drivers and after some rigamarole managed to install them (needed to run installer as superuser).
I still have a couple of problems I could use help with:
- In the AMD Catalyst Control Center I can finally adjust resolution and size to be correct (and a lot better) but I always loose my menu to the TV.
Can't seem to find a way around that; so I'm still stuck with a cloned setting.
- I can't seem to find a way to send sound to my HDMI and built in analog stereo simultaneously
