Firefox + nvidia freeze my laptop

Postby freez on Fri Apr 05, 2013 3:50 pm

Hi,

This is my first post. I have been using linux since the last few weeks. I did lots of searches and now I think that my nvidia card causes the problem.

I installed nvidia-current driver with synaptic. I use linux mint 64. Previosly I also tried to install the graphic driver directly from nvidia.com then I had to format everything then make a fresh install of linuxmint.

Here are the details: (please ask if you need more)

AMD Turion 64x2 mobile technology processor, 1.9 ghz, 2x512 KB L2 cache, 2GB DDR2.

inxi -SGx
System: Host: v Kernel: 3.5.0-17-generic x86_64 (64 bit, gcc: 4.7.2) Desktop: N/A Distro: Linux Mint 14 Nadia
Graphics: Card: NVIDIA G86 [GeForce 8400M G] bus-ID: 02:00.0 X.Org: 1.13.0 driver: nvidia Resolution: 1280x800@60.0hz
GLX Renderer: GeForce 8400M G/PCIe/SSE2 GLX Version: 3.3.0 NVIDIA 304.43 Direct Rendering: Yes

Firefox starts slowly and whenever firefox runs Xorg.0.log records some warnings like these:
[ 2985.667] (WW) NVIDIA(0): WAIT (2, 6, 0x8000, 0x0000d378, 0x00002294)
[ 2986.254] (WW) NVIDIA(0): WAIT (0, 6, 0x8000, 0x00002294, 0x00002294)

What should I do?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.
