Dual monitors work from "Live" USB, but not once installed

Postby sparky2013 on Thu Apr 18, 2013 11:45 pm

I'm not sure if I'm using this chat site correctly.

I have a my dual monitor machine with a single GEForce 8400GS (VGA/DVI output) card. I have no on-board video on my ASUS P5G Deluxe motherboard and no other video boards installed. The Linux mint 13 and 14 - 64 bit cinnamon, 32 Bit Cinnamon, and Both versions of MATE are booting "live" and both monitors are detected and work beautifully. No drag or delay or any problems. But when I install any of these to the primary hard drive and boot, both of the monitors are correctly identified and all the controls work, but only one monitor will work. I've tried them all. same problem. I installed every "Proprietary" tested and non tested drivers with no joy. Any ideas? I see others having dual monitor issues, but they are usually other issues. When I boot back to win 7, both work fine. When I boot to the USB MINT "LIVE" they work fine, but when I boot to the fresh HD install, both monitors are correctly listed, but only one works. It does not even turn the monitor on.? ANy ideas.

THanks so much
