Problem when switching from radeon card to geforce card

Post by darkkhaine »

I have switched my graphic card from a radeon R5770 to a geforce gtx960. Now cinnamon crash on startup and i can't find any driver to install in the driver manager.

Should i try to install the geforce driver manually ?

Edit : the driver manager now displays the nvidia driver, but it seems i can't install the nvidia-352 driver.

So the OS no longer crashes on startup? Did you install an nvidia driver?
but it seems i can't install the nvidia-352 driver.
Latest mine shows is 331.

You could boot into 'recovery'/single mode, or ctrl-alt-F1 (or F2, etc), login as root and do
apt-get install nvidia-331

Your data and OS are backed up....right?

Thank you, i managed to install the driver. The only thing is the OS seems to take longer to start now (don't know if this is just an impression).

@darkkhaine: your signature suggests that you're still running Mint 14. I hope that's not true....
