I am trying to boot a LiveCD Mint 8 on a IBM Netvista 2gig memory and a Nvidia GF 7300 video card, but end up with black screen. The LiveCD is good because it boots on a laptop with no problems, and boots on this machine if I take out the Nvidia card.

If you have the mouse, and can get to the Menu, just go to the Control Center, and change your screen resolution . .

This problem was resolved by:
1. Reconfiguring xserver-xorg
2. Loading latest NVIDIA drivers
3. Executing nvidia-xconfig to update xorg driver pointer
Most of the instructions on how to do this were found on Google with a "mint nvidia" search.
