NVIDIA GeForce GT320M Driver Problem
HP PAVILION DV7-3160EM I3-330
Processor: Intel Core i3-330 2.13GHz
Hard Drive: 500GB, 7200rpm, SATA
Memory: 4GB (2x2GB), DDR3, 1066MHz
Graphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT320M 1GB
I recently bought this notebook, and I have installed double boot
Windows 7 Ultimate + Linux Mint 8 Helena
My Notebook is working quite fast on Linux.
I am a newbie when it comes to Linux, and I am learning as I go,
I do know allot about Windows Xp, and Windows 7.
jet this is completely different context, ( Linux ), and I like it,
I still will have to use Windows 7, cos certain features, Linux just does not
support, but mostly, I would love to use Linux - - -
Alas, with out the Graphic card, the features, and advantageous of Linux, are lost
to me ( I am not talking about security ) . . .
But If I am using it, I'd love to use everything it has to offer.
Can anyone help me, how to solve Graphic Card Problem.
When I installed all the updates, were also these:
NVIDIA binary kernel module source
Video Decode and Presentation API for Unix
Modaliases for the NVIDIA binary X.Org driver 173
Modaliases for the NVIDIA binary X.Org driver 185
Modaliases for the NVIDIA binary X.Org driver 96
Also there is installed a tool NVIDIA Server Settings, and when I start it, it says,
that I don't have any Drivers installed, it seems that they are not recognized.
I also installed Envy NG - that is suppose to install and uninstall ATI and Nvidia drivers, and when I start the application,
nothing happens.
Is there any way to solve this issue, cos I would really like to use Linux
Thank you
David

Re: NVIDIA GeForce GT320M Driver Problem
You should always check whether hardware is compatible before you install, see http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1422172
[Edit] your original post and add [SOLVED] once your question is resolved.

Re: NVIDIA GeForce GT320M Driver Problem
Hey
Well I solved the problem, I simply waited for LINUX MINT 9 ISADORA - - - and now it works like magic on my notebook,
it support all the features of my notebook . . . .
so far I love everything about it, except that DIVX based movies don't work . . . Still have to figure out, what to do about it,
most programs I used on Windows 7, I found the for Linux distros too, similar ones, especially for Cool Edit Pro, now I use Audacity . . . .
Keep up the good work, I really love this distro . . . .
