Guys,
I'm having a problem with the ATI card driver in Linux Mint 6.
I had the ati amd proprietary fglrx graphics driver working but then all of a sudden I switched back to the std. Linux driver.
This caused me to lose all of my 3D effects capabilities.
I've tried re-activate the fglrx driver but although it appears to be updating it still shows inactive.
Anyway, I've decided to manually install the ATI driver but I'm not sure that I have the right one for my card and distribution.
The driver that I'm looking at is: ATI Catalyst 9.3 Proprietary Linux x86 Display Driver
My Card is a: ATI Mobility Radeon X300
My Distro is: Mint 6 Felicia
If anyone can tell me if I've chosen the right driver it would be greatly appreciated.
Also, if anyone has any ideas on how to get the fglrx driver re-activated that would be even better.
I really liked how the fglrx performed and I don't know what happened to make it go away (probably something stupid that I did).
Please help if you can.
Thanks
Is this the right driver for my card/distro? (SOLVED)

bob5...
First of all, thanks for the response to my question....
The only thing that I'm not understanding is how to remove the Linux driver using package manager.
I don't know what the driver is called, or where to find this information.
Could you please explain this in a little more detail? I'm really new to the Linux operating system.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Is this the right driver for my card/distro?
Bob5,
I wanted to give you an update.........
Although the procedure worked perfectly at restoring the high res graphics I still was not able to download and install the ATI driver that I needed.
The problem is that without the ATI driver my screen resolution was set so high that I could barely read the text on a page, and I had no other options to change to.
After fighting it for about 3 hours I finally just reinstalled Mint and then was able to get the driver.
I really do appreciate your help and as I said....your procedure did do what it was supposed to do.
Have a great weekend.
