Resolution problem

Postby organnyx on Mon Apr 16, 2012 5:50 pm

Graphics are GeForce 7025 / nForce 630a/PCI/SSE2/3DNOW! (according to system info). Finally gave up with Ubuntu (Unity), and have replaced it with the latest Mint, but even having tried many of the "solutions" offered, I'm still unable to get my screen resolution to display properly at 1440x900 (it starts up at 1024x768) - any bright suggestions?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Now totally at my wit's end with this - been trying the "extra drivers" thing, and picked one of the many Nvidia drivers to try (available in the Nvidia extra drivers app) - I rebooted, and most of the screen has "disappeared off the edges", and I can't even get down to the bottom left of the screen to change the driver in "extra drivers" - help! :(

Looks like it's going to have to be a major operation to sort this - the only way I can see out of it is to transfer all my files/pictures/music out of the computer, add a (non Invidia) card to replace the onboard graphics card, then completely reload Mint, and start all over again (unless someone can help me get out of the mess I'm now in) :?
