Not a pic-post this time, but a question.
I would like to make some kinda Linux Promotion video and also want to make a short passage about the customisability/DE-WE and would like to use some screens from here ... especially those from Marc an Lou.
I've got Fluxbox and KDE on my own (other ones are welcome as well) and have some nice ones from Marc(only looked at the last 20 pages  ).
I love Lous work too, but it's way to dark for a scaled down pixelated video
At the Moment there is:
Gnome3 from marc
Gnome2 from marc
My fluxbox
KDE by me (Marcs Wall ) I'll use KDE for the "presentation" so its ok so.
XFCE by Marc
LXDE from Lou
Unity from Mintmaniac

So XFCE, LXDE & an up-to-date Unity Screens would be nice too and it would be good if they differ from the other DE's (as far as Unity could differ from Gnome3), then i should have a small sight on all important desktop environments.

Especially i would like to know if it's ok with you using this screens

Thanks in advance,

Leit

thank you marc, for LXDE i would count on Lou, i like his styles, and i hope (and think) he'll also bring something great when it's a bit brighter ;)
@mintmaniac: you're welcome to post your Unity, you should know, that i also want to show the "eyecandy"-side of linux (and also if i hate unity, it looks nice even if it's "out of the box")

I will mention you all in the vid, and off course i will post it here when it's done ;).

Oh before i forget, if someone wants to know why I do this:
I've got a lot of friends and even workmates, which would go to Linux, but think it's hard to control/not as featurerich as Windows or some of the other old Linux-stereotypes, so i would like to show them that they're wrong... and pictures are still the easiest way to describe things ;)
It will be screencastet (with features such as the Software-installation/update), but because i can't set up a system for every DE/WM (and cause you guys got more style then me  ) i'll still need some help.

... and i think i'll have to switch from chakra back to a noob-friendly distro like mint (although i'm only waiting for LMDEFlux and LMKDE)

so far,

~ Leit

Did some tweaks to my GNOME 3 desktop, figured I'd show them off.

I have to thank autocrosser for helping me out a little and pointing me in the right direction. Now my GNOME 3 Shell looks AWESOME! (At least *I* think it does, I'll leave you all to judge it for yourselves...)

EDIT: Updated the screenshot after making a couple other minor tweaks and finding out that the user theme extension breaks other extensions' CSS, so I found patched files here that fixed the problem. Everything looks slightly better now.

Let's see . . . Mint-9 LTS Fluxbox Edition on my new Toshiba laptop.

Just because Mint-9 is not so new, it is the current LTS (long-term support) version.
Which means that Mint-9 is very stable and well-updated ... as this gives the Mint Devs and Maintainers time to squash/fix all the bugs.
I have upgraded everything else > kernel is 2.6.39-generic and using Firefox-5.0.

The Fluxbox window manager is awesome ... self-updating Menu and full-transparency to the 'right-click' Menu and Apps.
I have found Fluxbox to be easier to re-configure and use than Openbox.
Except, that I still like tint2 better than the default Fluxbox-panel.
