[SOLVED] Laptop screen dynamic brightness issue

Postby Ikaris on Mon Aug 19, 2013 10:18 am

Hello fellow Mint users.

I think my question here is a software issue, but it affects my hardware, so I think posting here isn't bad. If it is, well... feel free to move this topic. :)
EDIT : I created this topic in the "Non-technical" section having in mind the "Other" section... How bad can I mess on my first post here... I'm truthfully sorry. Please move it :o

When my laptop is idle, the screen brightness decreases a bit. When I move the mouse, type, anything, the brightness increases back. Alright, power-saving is good, I won't deny it.
BUT the thing is, the switch of brightness incurs a lag with the display. It's like the FPS drops to zero for a short amount of time. My question is : how can I disable the dynamic brightness and set a constant setting for it ?

I wish you a nice day.

If you need anything else, I'll gladly give it (I won't give out my credit card number of course duh :D).

EDIT 2 : I found out how to do this. Just into System Settings => Screensaver and Lock Settings => Change brightness and uncheck the "Dim screen to save power".
