How to get a fix for a 2 years old bug

Hi,

Last january I opened a thread about an issue I have with sound

After long search and reading I found that this is a bug

I had few posts with Raymond in the bug site but nothing more.
I can't use my Mint/Mate box to record and play properly and I need these 2 features.
I explained my situation in the bugs.launchpad.net thread but no answer.
I took all the email addresses of people involed in the alsa-driver from the site and sent a personal mail. No answer.
This bug is 2 years old and I don't think they care.

Now I am hopeless and don't know what to do.
I had hope to use the next LTS version but with this bug I can't. My only solution will be to change the distribution.

So you are my last hope. Any idea to get a fix or a workaround or to contact one of these guys?

There seems to be a patch in comment 56:

Have you tried applying it? You can find instructions on doing so here:

Note this requires a source entry (set this in software sources or synaptic).

Thank you Previous1 for your interest in my issue.

I saw this post 56 but I thought it was for technical reference (this is an automated message).
If this is a patch I can use, I don't have any clue how and where to install it.
I explained to Raymond my technical level and was expecting an easy way to fix the issue.

I don't understand your second link. This is another issue, what is the relation with alsa-driver?

I am ready to go further, do you have time and patience to write a small how-to and help me along the task?

The second link is for another program yes, but it explains in steps how you can apply a patch (just replace apparmor with alsa-driver)

I can't find the source for the driver. Do you know it?

Synaptic -> Settings -> Repositories

Then check the "source" entries. Alternatively

Uncomment (remove the #) the deb-src entries. Then update

Today 07 June 2014, I installed Fedora 20 Mate and tested audio.

Audio is perfect no glitch, volume slider jump, no bug !!!!!

So, this is a bug with Ubuntu based OS and people here don't care.

So I say good bye to Mint.

Nobody blames you for taking the road that works for you. Though Fedora is more aimed at users who can and are willing to help themselves, so you may end up disappointed.

Well done, good luck with Fedora. Don't be affraid experimenting, trying different distros. There is a good reason there are so many flavours out there. You will surely find the one that suits you best.
