I just did a fresh install of the system and am very pleased with
it. However one thing bugged me for a second - I couldn't find
the way to use wireless connection without presence of dhcp
server. After a few moments I found out, that I can do that
by switching off the network in the "tray thing" and setting
my wlan connection by network setting in System/Administration.
Because of that (at least for now) I can't see the params of my
connection (I suppose there's some way to see it but that's not
the point).
So I think that there should be possibility to choose if ip settings
should be fetched by dhcp or set statically. The solution I know
from WinXP is a additional tab with alternative network settings
where you could keep a setup that would be used if there was
no dhcp server found.
Maybe there's some out-of-the-box solution for that? I don't
know. That's just my few cents....
Anyway, I'm really impressed by the ease of installing and using
the system so far. Keep up the good work
Greetings
