Some feedback

Post by Louis »

Hi
I've tryed Mint 3.0, and I think that it's a really good distribution, but I've some feedback.

Mint 3.0 was fast to connect to my wireless WPA network. It tooks so long time for Ubuntu 7.04 to do that. But how can Mint 3.0 do it so fast?

I've think that I will be great If you uploaded F-spot on the Mint Software Portal, It open-source, what Picesa isn't and it's faster that Picesa and translated to locale language.

I also think I will be nice if you upload aMSN 0.97 RC 1 to The Mint Software portal. You can find a deb-package that I've compiled by myself her:
http://www2.louis.dk/amsn_0.97RC1.deb

To include Compiz Fusion in Mint 3.1 see this guide:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=481314
I recommand you to remove Beryl and Emerald.
You can do this by typing sudo apt-get remove --purge beryl* emerald* in a terminal.

I also think that I will be nice, if you upgrade Thunderbird in Mint 3.1 to version 2.0.0.4 or just 2.0.0.0. But why have you included Sunbird in Mint 3.0 insted of the Lightning extension?

Sundbird/Lightning 0.5 is released and Pidgin 2.0.0.2 is also released please update these packages or just Pidgin in the Mint repository.

I think that I will be nice if you replace Amarok with Banshee or just Examile in Mint 3.1. or upload a meta-package to the Cassandra repository.

But there is something that I don't understand:
Why have you include backports and proposed in the sources.list?

I think that it will be nice if you make a mint-install-package to upgrade from Mint 3.0 to Mint 3.1.

This was all from me a this moment. Keep on the good work ;)

Take care. In Mint 2.1 and 2.2 OOo ****** up because it was upgraded from 2.04 to 2.1 and the language supports don't works out of the box. You should install a package to got your locale language in OOo.

Another thing:
If you install Mint 3.0 in an another language than English the frontpage will be Ubuntu's locale frontpage and not Mint's.

UCView is a very good program to take pictures and video with a webcam. I hope you will include this in 3.1 or just UCView's repository.

VirtualBox is a very good virtual software. I hope you will include it or just VirtualBox'es repository.

Skype 1.4 beta is released. I hope you will include Skype's repository in 3.1.

At last I hope you will include Ubuntu's default games in 3.1. Many people love them or just a Mint-packages with all the games on Mint Software Portal.
