Is Mint built from Ubuntu or the other way around?

Postby moveright on Wed May 04, 2011 1:17 pm

Just curious. I love Mint. I've messed around with Ubuntu, opensuse, mandriva, fedora, I think that's it. Anyhow, Mint is by far the smoothest and most 'turn key' distro I've used.

Question though, It reminds me of Ubuntu very much. Is that because it is built from Ubuntu or is that just by chance? or none of the above?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

The Linux Mint main edition, and most of the other editions use Ubuntu as a base; with the exception of Linux Mint Debian Edition, and the recent XFCE edition which is also based on Debian.
