Is there reprocessing, compatibility checking, or anything else by the Mint team that adds lag time after an Ubuntu user gets updates until Mint users do?
Happy Ubuntu 10.04 user, with update manager set to check for updates daily.

There is no delay, except when Mint uses a modified package. Those packages are visible here: http://packages.linuxmint.com
You may however get a delay by using a mirror of the Ubuntu repository. But Mint doesn't do that by default.

No, they're directly from Ubuntu repositories. The only time there would be an issue is if mint blocked an upgrade in lieu of its own package. Say if Mint had a version of flash that was preferred over the ubuntu package. Other than that its direct from Ubuntu, when they get it you get it.
