http://www.linuxmint.com/oldreleases.php - doesn't really matter. you can choose to install whatever favorite terminal you like ! I am used to Xfce Terminal, and have the same version on all of my machines.
My 2 cents :
I see in these forums that those that desire stability, and choose to install the LTS versions, don't post many questions. But those that have to have the latest of every program out there, even if they are bug ridden alpha or beta versions, are the bulk of support requests. Browse around, you'll see for yourself.
