Difference between different versions

If I simply work in the virtual terminals, is there any difference between different versions except for software versions?

Sorry, but I was referring to versions like Katya and Lisa. Is there any difference in the underlying terminal?

Ah, the light turns on ! . . only one comes to mind, the first one below.
- support and security updates stop at the end of each versions life cycle. http://www.linuxmint.com/oldreleases.php

- doesn't really matter. you can choose to install whatever favorite terminal you like ! I am used to Xfce Terminal, and have the same version on all of my machines.

My 2 cents :
I see in these forums that those that desire stability, and choose to install the LTS versions, don't post many questions. But those that have to have the latest of every program out there, even if they are bug ridden alpha or beta versions, are the bulk of support requests. Browse around, you'll see for yourself.
