Does Pidgin integrate well with Gnome Shell?

I am coming from Ubuntu 11.10 with Gnome Shell installed, but I absolutely love the messaging integration in Gnome Shell on there with Ubuntu. I wanted to know if Pidgin reacts in the same way as Empathy does in Gnome Shell, or should I just install Empathy?

I just downloaded Empathy and it has much better Gnome integration than Pidgin and I recommend it for Gnome Shell users.
