Very disappointed in the latest Mint Releases. I have been using Mint since it's inception. The BEST is Mint 11. In the newest version, I have two partitions with the same version installed twice, the first install runs differently than the second install. Certain tweaks work in the first, not in the second.

For both, the Backup Assistant does not do a complete backup of the system as did Mint 11 and 12. The screen saver in the first install will not go to password on starting, however, the second install does. Each install is installed exactly the same in terms of menus, sub menus and programs.

Compiz does not work at all for the Desktop Cube as it did so marvelously with Mint 11. The Wine program is less on 13 as opposed to 11 and 12. Was able to install more Windows Programs on Mint 11 than on 12 and 13. In particular Trillian.

I get an error screen on shutdown with both installs (broken pipe) I believe when shutting down, the Network is either closed or still open.

I know these differences are minute, however, the reason why I chose Mint in the first place is because in the first editions, it ran so perfectly without these little disturbances.

We have to have an app in the control center where we can comment easily on needed repairs rather than going to a forum in which no one will ever read. Ubuntu One does not make the grade.

That being said, let's get 13 to the Mint 11 state! PLEASE

I think 13 is one of the best releases, but I do agree that it isn't flawless.

I don't understand the broken pipe error, but it doesn't seem to effect my shutdown.

My biggest problem was with mdm; on login, there'd be a big blue box covering half of the screen!

Your problems with Wine could be solved by using something like Playonlinux, which lets you switch between multiple Wine versions very easily.

Have you tried installing compiz settings and enabling desktop cube? I don't remember it ever being enabled by default, but I could be wrong.
