Installed Mint on girlfriend's desktiop

Post by lexon »

I wasso wrong about dual booting Mint with XP. So easy, a caveman, oops, cave person can do it. XP was on the drive and Mint 13. 32 bit, Mate, Gnome showed me very clearly how to move the divider to split the 250 GB drive.
Girlfriend is so happy.

A girlfriend that is happy about running Linux is hard to find. :) lexon, you better hang on to her, she sounds like a keeper to me. :)

She does not care if it is Linux based. No offense meant. The PC runs so much faster that she is really amazed.
She is not one trying to download all kinds of stuff/apps into her PC which does mess up many Windows users.
It was easy to transfer her files and Favorites to Firefox.
She uses email, maybe opens photos from family and sometimes a You Tube video. She is very aware of Spam attemps.
Pay bills on line and she learned sometime ago, don't stay logged into any site any longer than you have to. I do the same. I never log into any forum until ready to say something and then I bail out.
Her email is web based and easy to use. Bookmarks are just like her Favorites in XP were.
I will send a donation in on this as I do not hear anymore complaining about a slow PC.

Put this in perspective we are both over 70.
I started with a PDP8 in 1972. Windows 3.1 in 1996. Left W98SE, a very good OS, but dated, in 2003.
