I figured I'd try out Linux mint with MATE desktop, and now I am stuck on it. I love it and will install and use it for the rest of it's existance.

A lot of people seem to relly like the Gnome 2x style and how they can customize it exactly how they want it. :)

Same with my girlfriend. I dual booted her XP PC with Mate and she loves it. She does not care that it is Linux, just that the PC runs so much faster than ever. All the Icons work just fine. She picked up Firefox with no problem. All she wants is to pay a couple bills on line, email.

I enjoy the way you can hide the task bay at the bottom. I also enjoy it's speed and smoothness on my computer. Oh, by the way, the specs are:

HP Compaq CQ-56 219WM
1.9 Gigahertz Intel Celeron Processor
2 Gigabytes worth of DDR2 Memory
320 Gigabytes of Hardrive space (part of it is partitioned for experimentation with Windows based system  )
Not sure on the video stuff
24x Speed CD/DVD ROM+RW

Takes 30 minutes or so to install on my computer. I already re-installed different forms of Linux SEVERAL times.(Includes: Linux Mint, Ubuntu, Fedora, CentOS, Debian, and Puppy Linux. )
