suggestion: Inexpensive graphics card for Mint 13

Hi,

I now have a Radeon HD4870 graphics card on my mint 13 cinnamon. It works. I use proprietary 12.06 drivers. Open source drivers were working, too. but my gpu fan was working at maximum speed making sitting next to it impossible.

However sometimes when I shut-down the PC, it freezes showing some CLI commands (I do recognized 'fglrx' words here and there, although I am sure I did a full uninstall of glrfx drivers).

I decided to buy another graphics card. I do not play games so I am not looking for an expensive card. I want an inexpensive card that does decent movies, shows compiz fx, and works nicely on my desktop PC.

Can you recommend one? nVidia or AMD it doesn't really matter as long as it works.

I check http://www.techbargains.com/ on occasion just to see what's out there. There is a HD 5450 listed there (Newegg ) for only $10. Don't really know how that compares.
